Vintage Stencil Card Collection
So...onto my project for this special preview. First I need to tell you how much I LOVE making 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 square cards! I just really enjoy the extra room to create. Now you are probably wondering what the heck that has to do with this project because those cards sticking out of my little basket don't look like they are 5 1/4 x 5 1/4. Well...you are right...they aren't! But what what they ARE is that funny leftover strip you get when you CREATE 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 square cards out of 8 1/2 x 11! Now the biggest problem with this 'odd' size (which happens to be 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 finished) is finding an envelop. Well...guess what? I'm going to show you how to solve THAT problem too!
Oh...and do you know something I just absolutely LOVE? The SU Stencils! Oh my...they are just FABULOUS!!! I really like the Mostly Vintage Stencil in the Summer Mini - you get BOTH the positive AND the negative image to give you more options! This stencils was PERFECT for my cards! Not only did I stencil the cards, but I thought it would be nice to also stencil the envelopes to make a matching set.
I don't know about you, but sometimes I have a difficult time finding a color combo I like. One of the things I like to use is the color combos from the designer series papers. This is a color combo from about a year ago (and I had to do a little change due to the use of an in color in that pack) but it is Whisper White, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Bravo Burgundy. I think this makes sure a nice spring/summer look!
This set of cards uses the 'positive' image of the stencil done in So Saffron on Whisper White. I layered this onto a piece of Bravo Burgundy. Next I took a strip of Bravo Burgundy and punched along each side using the Eyelet Border punch and layered a strip of So Saffron along the inside. This is layered onto the card front. Next I tied a piece of the Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin ribbon around it and layered it to the card front. To do the sentiment, I started with stamping the word(s) in Bravo Burgundy on Pretty in Pink and punched out using the small oval punch. I then took one of the flower punches from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and created flowers from Bravo Burgundy and added a Barely Banana brad in the center. This is then layered onto a Mini Vintage Tag (LOVE 'EM!!!) and then onto the card using dimensionals. This is all layered onto the Pretty in Pink card base.
Now these two cards use the 'negative' image that comes in the stencil pack. I find using some dotto temporary adhesive works best for adhering the cardstock to the stencil. For this stencil, I found it was best to use the sponge dauber - best control when working with this negative image stencil. Everything else about the card is the same as the ones above...just using the other image in the pack. I also used the negative image on the envelopes. I do like the look of the greeting layered onto the Mini Vintage Tag - CUTE!

Now, I know you probably have some baskets around your house and I found this one to be the PERFECT size for my card collection! I 'fancy it up' I tied a Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin ribbon around it. For the tag, I made this the same as I did the cards using the positive stencil. I punch a 1" circle from Bravo Burgundy, folded it in half and added it to the top of the tag. I used one of the strings (that I cut off the Mini Vintage Tag) to tie the tag to the ribbon around the basket.

Elements of Style Wedding Ensemble

Many of you that follow my personal blog, know that I am in the midst of plans for my son's wedding in June. I spent a few weeks making their wedding invitations. No, this isn't theirs, but it is similar to one that I would make for myself if I were getting married again! But...I'm not giving up my husband of 30 years! lol!
I love the modern, slim look to this invitation and the colors of Rich Razzleberry and Certainly Celery. And the waterfall program is so much fun! The thank you notes are elegant, but easy to make, too.
I started with a pocket holder for the invitation. The size is 8 1/2 x 9 3/4, and I scored 1/2 inch on one long side and one short side. Fold up and adhere with Sticky Strip (I did cut off one of the tabs on the short side so that it was less bulky.) I stamped the vine image from Elements of Style in Rich Razzleberry down the entire side (it wraps around to the back). I added the words Life is a matter of moments in the bottom right corner and punched a 1" circle half way for a thumb hold to make it easier to get the invitation out of the pocket. I stamped the Letter B from Monogram Sweet stamp set in Certainly Celery on Shimmery White cardstock and punched with the 1 1/4" circle punch, then layered on a 1 3/8" circle punch in Certainly Celery cardstock.
Inside, I printed off the invitation wording right-hand justified on Shimmery White cardstock, then stamped the Vine image in Rich Razzleberry on the left side. It is cut to 3 1/2 x 8 3/4. I layered it onto Certainly Celery cardstock measuring 3 3/4 x 9 in size.

The Waterfall Program was assembled by printing on different levels of Shimmery White cardstock. The first level measures 4 x 5 1/2, the second level is 4 x 6 3/4, the third level is 4 x 7 3/4 and the last level is 4 x 8 3/4. The outside jacket measures 4 1/4 x 9. After printing and cutting, I stamped the vine image again with Rich Razzleberry and added another Monogram Sweet Letter B. Finally, I used my Crop A Dile to punch holes thru all the layers (like butter!) and tied on some Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon into a bow on the top.
Finally, I put together a thank you card for my Wedding Ensemble using Elements of Style. I started with a 4 1/4 x 11 sheet of Rich Razzleberry and scored it in half. I placed the fold on the left side. I stamped the vine image again across the top of Shimmery White cardstock (I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to keep it straight). I added another Monogram Sweet Letter B. Then stamped the word thanks from the stamp set Thank You Kindly in the lower right corner. The Shimmery White is layered on Certainly Celery and placed on the card front!
